President Buhari has ordered the importation of Covid-19 herbal remedy from Madagascar
Boss Mustapha the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, disclosed that President Buhari has directed the presidential task force on COVID-19 to pick up the COVID-19 Syrup from Madagascar that has been reported to have plant-based “remedy” for Coronavirus.
Boss Mustapha while addressing newsmen at the daily briefing of the taskforce in Abuja, said Madagascar has donated some of the products to Nigeria through Guinea-Bissau, and arrangements were being made to pick them up.
He, however, said that the syrup will be subjected to the standard validation process for pharmaceuticals.
”I HAVE RECEIVED INSTRUCTIONS FROM MR PRESIDENT TO MAKE ARRANGEMENT TO FRET IT HOME WITH A CLEAR INSTRUCTION THAT I SHOULD SUBJECT IT TO THE VALIDATION PROCESS SIMILAR TO WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO ANY OTHER MEDICINE OR SYRUP OR VACCINE THAT IS DISCOVERED OR CREATED INTERNALLY. IT WILL BE SUBJECTED TO THE SAME PROCESS BEFORE IT IS PUT INTO ANY FORM OF USE.” Boss Mustapha said.
Madagascar said the drink is derived from artemisia – a plant with proven anti-malarial properties – and other indigenous herbs.
