Nigerian governors that have tested positive for Covid 19 virus

High profiled Nigerian’s have tested positive to the deadly coronavirus diseas. Though the virus has no known cure, yet most of the people on our list recovered within the first month after contacting the virus.

Below are list of governors that have tested positive to covid 19 virus.

1. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu

The executive governor of Abia state Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu is the latest governor to have tested positive to the coronavirus as at the time of this update.
On Saturday, 30th May, 2020, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu volunteered his sample for COVID-19 test and subsequently directed members of the state Executive Council (EXCO) and those of the inter-ministerial committee on COVID-19 to submit themselves for the same test.
On Tuesday, 2nd June, 2020, the result of Governor Ikpeazu’s test returned negative.
However, On Thursday, 4th June, 2020, the Governor submitted another sample at NCDC laboratory for confirmation and the result returned positive.
Presently, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has gone into isolation, as required by relevant NCDC protocols, and he is being managed by a competent team of medical practitioners with a view to nursing him back to good health.

2. Governor Nasir El Rufai

The Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai had also tested positive to the coronavirus disease.

El-Rufai disclosed this himself through a video that was posted on his verified twitter handle on Saturday March 28 2020 and happens to be the first case recorded in Kaduna State.

However, he has recovered from COVID-19 having tested negative to the disease twice. “I am delighted to report today, that after nearly four weeks of observing a strict medical regime, I have now received the all-clear after two consecutive negative test results.

“I thank Almighty Allah for His grace and mercy. I also acknowledge with gratitude the massive outpouring of sympathy, prayers and public support that followed the disclosure of the infection,” he said.

3. Governor Sey Makinde

The Executive Governor of Oyo state
Seyi Makinde, had also tested positive for coronavirus. The governor took to his Facebook page to announce his status
“I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate.

Recently, the governor took to Twitter again to announce that he had tested negative for the deadly virus.

4. Governor Bala Mohammed

The Executive Governor of Bauchi State Bala Mohammed, was the first governor to contracted the virus in Nigeria, following clinical tests carried out oh him and his aides.

The report was made known to the public by Mukhtar Gidado the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media, on Tuesday, March 24, in a statement to the general public.

Meanwhile, he is also free from the virus as he took to his Twitter handle and announced;
